Farewell Mr. President (Not the current one)
So last night I turned on the TV... I was too tired to bother with Netflix or even to watch porn so I just flipped through a few channels and came across George H.W. Bush's funeral proceedings on CSPAN.
Now normally I would verbalize the word "yuck" and move on, but I decided to watch for a moment, and I'm glad I did. It was quite moving actually; eloquent and tactful, yet playfully humorous, eulogies were given in memory of his life and service. And there was a full orchestra and choir performing beautiful music in his honor. From the priest to the politicians, every word was spoken with respect and love.
Now, isn't is so terribly ironic and tragic that not even a shred of such dignity and respect seems to exist on the political battlefield when these same people debate on the most pressing issues that face the U.S.A and the rest of the world? At least in that brief moment, all the petty mudslinging was put aside and the wolves of Washington behaved as human beings. It was a beautiful thing to witness.
I ended up watching the entire program and even began recording it. I guess it was like spotting a unicorn and I wanted to capture the evidence. Anyway, R.I.P president Bush.
